GRANVILLE CHAPEL CODE OF CONDUCT
As volunteers of Granville Chapel, we have the privilege of serving others in accordance with our vision: “To be a spiritually vibrant community being transformed by God’s love and extending His kingdom in our city and around the world”. With that privilege comes great responsibility, which demands that we must act with integrity and fairness and in the spirit of Christian love.
This Code of Conduct provides basic guidelines for all of us as representatives of Granville Chapel.
Honesty, Integrity and Confidentiality:
Our vision requires co-operation and trust among employees and volunteers in the service of Granville Chapel. Working relationships are based on a common desire to serve God, and that requires an environment of encouragement and support. We undertake to treat each other with respect and commit to tell each other the truth in love.
As employees and volunteers, we are often exposed to confidential information about Granville Chapel, its members and adherents. Disclosure of such information to any outside party, either in a church or social context, is a breach of trust.
In a church environment where personal needs and problems are frequently shared, it may be difficult to determine what information is confidential. A general guideline to determine confidentiality would be any information that is not generally known, or is not within common congregational knowledge. It includes information relating to church business, finances, members or adherents and/or those receiving counselling at Granville Chapel. Volunteers must not disclose confidential information to any person outside Granville Chapel unless authorized. This includes disclosure to family and friends. Within Granville Chapel, confidential information should be disclosed only on a “need to know” basis. It is your responsibility to know what information is confidential, and to ask your supervisor if in doubt.
This is a continuing obligation and remains operative and in full force and effect and will survive the termination of volunteer term or employment by either party for any reason.
Laws and Regulations:
Granville Chapel will act in accordance with the law and volunteers should not take any action that violates any applicable law or regulation. Breach of trust or misappropriation of funds or property of Granville Chapel is a criminal act. Any employee who commits breach of trust, theft or embezzlement will be dismissed for cause without notice.
